Dominique Bultsma, MD

Dr. Dominique Bultsma is a board-certified internal medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Primary Care. She provides comprehensive primary care for adults, with a focus on preventive medicine, chronic disease management and helping patients build habits that support long-term health.

Clinical interests include:

• Preventive care and wellness
• Chronic disease management, including high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol
• Lifestyle-focused care for long-term health optimization
• Patient education and shared decision-making

Dr. Bultsma believes one of the most important parts of being a physician is helping patients understand their health. She takes time to explain conditions, treatment options and the benefits and trade-offs of different approaches so patients can make informed decisions that fit their goals, values and lifestyle.

Her care philosophy emphasizes prevention, early intervention and addressing root causes whenever possible. While medication can be an important part of treatment, Dr. Bultsma takes a thoughtful approach that also focuses on sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress management and other lifestyle factors that can have a powerful impact on overall health.

Before transitioning into primary care, Dr. Bultsma worked as a hospitalist, where she saw firsthand how strong primary care can help prevent complications and hospitalizations. That experience continues to shape her commitment to proactive, relationship-based care that helps patients stay healthier over time.

Dr. Bultsma earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new places together and listening to audiobooks about personal growth, finance and learning from others’ life experiences.
