Monica Mitchum, MD

Dr. Monica Mitchum is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners OB/GYN. She provides comprehensive care through every stage of life, with a focus on minimally invasive surgery, adolescent gynecology and obstetrics. She has an attentive and thoughtful approach to women’s healthcare and prioritizes clear communication and individualized care, ensuring patients feel heard, informed and empowered throughout their medical journey. She is committed to building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients.

Clinical interests and services include:

• Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including laparoscopic and vaginal procedures
• Obstetric care, from prenatal visits through delivery and postpartum
• Adolescent and pediatric gynecology, including disorders of puberty and development
• Contraception counseling and management
• Evaluation and treatment of pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding
• Well-woman exams and preventive care

Dr. Mitchum graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina, earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. She completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She is certified in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and was recognized for excellence in minimally invasive surgery during residency. She speaks conversational Spanish.

Having grown up on James Island, Dr. Mitchum enjoys time outdoors with her husband and three wonderful children. You will often find them on the water, at the beach or exploring parks in the area.
