Shannon Kang, MD

Shannon Kang, MD, is an internal medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Primary Care. She cares for adults of all ages with clinical interests in preventive medicine, obesity medicine and mental health.

Services and areas of focus include

• Preventive care and annual wellness visits
• Management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol
• Weight management and obesity medicine, including lifestyle planning
• Mental health screening and treatment coordination
• Acute illness care and same-day concerns
• Care coordination with specialists and advanced imaging
• Vaccinations and routine screenings

Dr. Kang’s approach is practical, evidence-based, and centered on the whole person. She takes time to listen, explains options in plain language, and partners with each patient to build a plan that fits their goals and daily life. Her aim is to leave patients feeling heard, informed, and supported. Dr. Kang is fluent in Korean.

Dr. Kang earned her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University and her bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of California, San Diego. She completed a preliminary surgical internship at the University of California, San Francisco East Bay, and an internal medicine residency at Trident Medical Center.

Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new restaurants and spending time outdoors with her family and their German shepherd.
