Stephen Ramey Sr., MD

Dr. Stephen Ramey is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Radiation Oncology. He specializes in treating a wide range of cancers, including prostate, breast, lung, head and neck, gastrointestinal, brain and skin cancers, as well as lymphoma and multiple myeloma. He also provides advanced treatment for certain benign conditions. His expertise includes stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy and Xofigo.

Dr. Ramey chose oncology after witnessing multiple members of his own family undergo cancer treatment. Those experiences taught him the importance of compassion, clear communication and evidence-based care, values that now guide his work every day. He strives to approach each patient and family with empathy, providing care that is both technically advanced and personally supportive. Working closely with physicians from other specialties and supportive care services, his goal is to make treatment as seamless as possible and to ease what is often a very stressful journey.

He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as chief resident. He also completed an internal medicine internship at MUSC. He graduated summa cum laude from Furman University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and history.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, watching sports, stand-up comedy, jogging, theatre, traveling and exploring science fiction and fantasy books, movies and shows.
