Dr. Alejandro Suarez is dual board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, specializing in general Gastroenterology with a focus on colorectal cancer prevention, GI oncology, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and interventional endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Originally from Florida, Dr. Suarez earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry from Barry University. He then pursued his M.D. at Saint George’s University School of Medicine. His postgraduate training includes an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Florida, followed by a fellowship in general Gastroenterology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Suarez further specialized in advanced endoscopy during a fellowship at Yale University, where he later served on the faculty as Assistant Professor Adjunct.

Dr. Suarez remains dedicated to academia, regularly teaching medical students, residents, and fellows while participating as an attending physician on the inpatient Gastroenterology service at Yale. He has contributed extensively to medical literature, publishing numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Surgical Endoscopy, and Gastroenterology, particularly focusing on therapeutic endoscopy.

During medical school, Dr. Suarez met his wife, Christine Seminara-Suarez, M.D., who practices Pediatrics at Lowcountry Pediatrics. They share interests in fitness, dining, and are enthusiastic sports fans. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Suarez and his wife are excited about raising their family in Charleston.
