About Blase Carabello

Professional Statement

Dr. Blase A. Carabello is part of the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners cardiology team and serves as the program director of the Valve Program at Roper St. Francis Healthcare.

He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and completed a cardiology fellowship at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Inspired by his father, a pediatrician, Dr. Carabello has practiced cardiology for more than 40 years, focusing on patient-centered care, which he describes as part of “the most humbling profession in the world.”

A highly regarded cardiovascular researcher, Dr. Carabello’s work has been published in more than 500 medical journals, books and editorials. He has received 20 awards and honors, including the American College of Cardiology’s Distinguished Scientist Award.

Dr. Carabello is a past president of both the Society for Heart Valve Disease and the Association of University Cardiologists.
