Crista Hays, PAC

Crista Hays is a nationally certified physician assistant with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Orthopaedics. She cares for patients 16 and older, with clinical interests in joint replacement and reconstruction, sports medicine, fracture care and joint injections.

Clinical interests and services include:

• Joint replacement and reconstruction
• Sports medicine
• Fracture care, including fracture reduction and splinting
• Joint injections, including ultrasound-guided injections
• Care before and after surgery

Crista chose medicine to help people realize what their bodies are capable of and return to an active life. That interest runs through her own history as well. She played professional basketball in Australia, where she served as team captain and was named most valuable player and rookie of the year, and she has coached college basketball for much of her career.

She has worked in orthopedics for nearly a decade, in settings ranging from private practice to Level 1 trauma, where she managed emergency and hospital consultations, handled fracture reductions and first-assisted in surgery. What she enjoys most is being part of a team and her time in the operating room.

Crista earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Colorado and her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Boise State University, graduating cum laude.

Outside of work, Crista enjoys spending time with her husband, riding her horse, basketball, snow skiing, hiking, mountain biking, baking and eating good food. She also follows the research on how nutrition affects inflammation in the body.
