Daniel Poole, MD

Daniel Poole, MD, is a sports medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Orthopaedics. Board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, he cares for patients of all ages, with a focus on the non-surgical treatment of sports and musculoskeletal injuries.

Clinical interests and services include:

• Non-operative sports medicine for athletes of all ages and levels
• Diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound
• Ultrasound-guided joint injections and procedures
• Concussion evaluation and management
• Non-operative fracture care
• Sideline and event coverage for local athletes

Dr. Poole's parents were both grade school teachers, and he has carried a teaching mindset into his own practice. Rather than simply telling patients what to do, Dr. Poole explains the reasoning behind every recommendation so they can understand their care and share in the decisions.

His passion is helping athletes get back to the sports and activities they love. He has served as team physician for Centenary College and Louisiana State University Shreveport, provided sideline coverage across NCAA divisions and worked ringside for USA Boxing and USA Judo events. Whether he is caring for a high school runner, a weekend cyclist or an older adult trying to stay active, his approach is to understand the goal, build a plan to get there and support the recovery.

Dr. Poole earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where he also completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics and a fellowship in sports medicine. He earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry, with a minor in computer science, from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Poole enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs. He is an avid cyclist, plays recreational sports, likes video games and spends as much time as he can at the beach and local parks.
