About David Ellison

Professional Statement

David M. Ellison, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He earned degrees from Yale University and Duke University School of Medicine, completed a residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Duke.

Dr. Ellison has held several leadership roles, including medical director of Roper St. Francis Cancer Center and chairman of the Roper Cancer Committee from 2002 to 2012. He has also served on the boards of Roper St. Francis Healthcare and the Medical Society of South Carolina, and was the founding chairman of the Lowcountry Affiliate of the Komen for the Cure Foundation.

A past recipient of the Physician Champion Award from the Roper St. Francis Foundation, Dr. Ellison is currently the principal investigator for several clinical trials of emerging cancer treatments at CHOA.
