David McCabe, MD

Dr. David McCabe is part of the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners General Surgery team. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at Ochsner Medical Center.

While earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, Dr. McCabe volunteered as a Spanish interpreter in a pediatric clinic serving an underserved migrant community. Witnessing the life-changing role physicians played inspired him to pursue medicine. He was drawn to general surgery in medical school by the immediate, tangible impact surgeons have on patients’ lives.

Dr. McCabe’s approach to medicine is personalized, honest and compassionate. He says he loves being a surgeon because he wants to help people feel better. He is proud to work for a not-for-profit health care system that puts people before profits.

On his days off, Dr. McCabe enjoys spending time near the water and caring for his two large dogs. He also plays golf occasionally and enjoys tennis matches with his wife.
