About Derek Feussner
Professional Statement
Dr. Derek Feussner joined Palmetto Digestive in July 2018 and practices at their West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, and Summerville locations. A graduate of Porter-Gaud High School, he is thrilled to be serving his hometown community.
Dr. Feussner earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Anthropology with a minor in Biology from Vanderbilt University. He then pursued his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine. Following this, he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he achieved board certification in Internal Medicine. He returned to Charleston to undertake his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at MUSC.
His clinical interests encompass inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, esophageal and stomach disorders, and colorectal cancer. Dr. Feussner is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Feussner enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Ansley, and their two children, often with their extended families in Charleston. During leisure moments, he can be found playing basketball, golfing, or enjoying activities on the water.
