Dr. Gerald Bernard Taylor is a urogynecologist with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Urogynecology and Pelvic Surgery.
Dr. Taylor specializes in:
- Pelvic floor disorders in women
- Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery
- Reconstructive surgery of the female genitourinary tract
He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Taylor returned to Charlotte, where he was named director of advanced gynecologic surgery and urogynecology. During his time at Carolinas Medical Center, now Atrium Health, he held several academic and clinical roles, including assistant fellowship program director and medical director of the continence center. He received recognition for excellence in teaching residents and medical students and has numerous publications and national presentations.
Dr. Taylor is a member of several professional societies, including the American Urogynecologic Society, Society for Gynecologic Surgeons, World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
He draws inspiration from his patients, their families, and the students, residents and fellows he has trained. Dr. Taylor understands that each patient brings unique life experiences and strives to provide individualized care that fits each patient’s lifestyle and needs.
An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Taylor enjoys endurance sports, hiking, boating, hunting and golf. He also loves theater, music, travel and learning about different cultures.

Dr Taylor not only educated me, spent extra time with me, but was a gentleman. He showed compassion and looked me in the eye when we spoke. And actually walked me out to the receptionist desk.

Dr. Taylor is an exceptional provider, my mother--because of her generation, was extremely uncomfortable about having a male gynecologist, and she had never met Dr. Taylor before. The moment she met him she was at ease! He too was exceptionally professional, deeply compassionate and extremely knowledgeable.He performed a procedure and, in very simple and clear terms, counseled her about long-term treatment options.
