Dr. James Smith, a Tampa, Florida, native, completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Wake Forest University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he met and married his wife, Lauren. He later returned to Wake Forest to complete fellowships in general and interventional cardiology.
