About Jennifer Murphy
Professional Statement
Raised near Chicago, Dr. Jennifer Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in neural sciences from Brown University in 1991. She received her medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, where she also completed her internal medicine residency.
Dr. Murphy continued her training with a rheumatology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She later served as an instructor of medicine in the rheumatology division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. There, she held an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School and contributed to the education of medical students, residents and rheumatology fellows.
In 2006, Dr. Murphy moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to join the Medical University of South Carolina as an assistant professor of medicine, a role she held until 2011. She is board-certified in rheumatology and is an active researcher and published author.
Outside of work, Dr. Murphy enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and two sons.
