He is recognized as one of the nation’s leading robotic surgeons, specializing in:

  • Colorectal cancer
  • Pelvic reconstruction

Dr. Lagares-Garcia has performed more than 2,000 robotic procedures and helped Roper St. Francis Healthcare become the first in the Southeast to offer robotic surgery. He also led the expansion of the robotics program into general surgery, thoracic surgery and gynecology.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Barcelona in Spain and completed postgraduate training at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center at Temple University. He finished a colorectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
