About Joseph Lally Jr.

Dr. Joseph M. Lally Jr. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmic surgeon specializing in cataract surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and a master's degree from Georgetown University before completing medical school and residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He went on to complete a fellowship in cataract and cornea surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.

For more than 30 years, Lally has served patients across the South Carolina Lowcountry and holds an appointment as assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has received Castle Connolly's Top Doctor designation annually.

Dr. Lally Lally serves as ophthalmology division chief at Roper Hospital and board president of Roper St. Francis Surgery Center. He remains actively involved in training the next generation of ophthalmologists at MUSC's Storm Eye Institute.
