About
Professional Statement
Dr. Julia Osborne is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Orthopaedics, specializing in conditions of the hand, wrist and upper extremity. She cares for patients from injury through treatment and recovery, with a focus on restoring strength, function and quality of life.
Clinical interests and services include:
- Carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome
- Trigger finger and De Quervain's tenosynovitis
- Hand, wrist, forearm and elbow fractures
- Arthritis of the hand, wrist and thumb
- Tendon, nerve and ligament repair and reconstruction
- Dupuytren's contracture and ganglion cysts
- Wrist arthroscopy for cartilage and inflammatory disorders
- Denervation procedures for chronic hand and wrist pain
A lifelong fascination with anatomy and human movement inspired her career in orthopedics, which ultimately led to a passion for the precision of upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Osborne believes surgery is not always the answer. She takes time to help each patient understand their diagnosis and all of their options, so they feel prepared and confident making informed decisions about their care. For her, the most rewarding part of the work is simple: improving someone's quality of life.
Dr. Osborne earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and completed her orthopedic surgery residency with the University of South Carolina and Prisma Health Midlands, where she served as chief resident. She went on to complete a hand, upper extremity and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Arizona. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology, graduating magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina.
Outside of work, Dr. Osborne enjoys hiking, running, hot yoga and reading in the sun. She and her husband love spending time at the beach, seeing live music and tackling home projects together.
