Kathryn Hockensmith, DO

Dr. Kathryn Hockensmith is a board-certified family medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Primary Care. She cares for patients from adolescence through their senior years, with interests in preventive care, women's health and weight management.

Clinical interests and services include:

• Preventive care and annual wellness visits
• Women's health, including well-woman exams, cancer screening and contraception
• Weight management and metabolic health
• Management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma
• Support for anxiety and depression
• In-office procedures, including skin biopsies, cryotherapy and joint injections
• Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for musculoskeletal pain

Dr. Hockensmith comes from a family with nearly 250 years of combined service in healthcare, an upbringing that taught her to see caring for others as both a privilege and a responsibility. That sense of purpose has guided her throughout her career.

Dr. Hockensmith listens closely and works to build trust with every patient. She partners with each person to set and reach health goals that support a healthier, fuller and more meaningful life. What she values most is the lasting relationships she builds along the way, celebrating her patients' successes and supporting them through life's challenges.

Dr. Hockensmith earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Mercyhealth in Janesville, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor's degrees in biology and chemistry, graduating summa cum laude, from Drury University.

Outside of work, Dr. Hockensmith loves exploring Charleston with family and friends, taking her dog to the beach, browsing farmers markets, practicing hot yoga and gathering over a good meal, whether she is cooking or trying a new restaurant.
