About Lars Runquist Jr.
Professional Statement
Dr. Lars Runquist is board-certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the Medical Society of South Carolina.
His medical interests include:
- Invasive cardiology
- Chest pain, heart attacks and pacemakers
- Drug-eluting stents
- Aggressive cardiac screening and lipid evaluation, including calcium scoring and Berkeley Heart Lab testing
He enjoys the fast pace of cardiology and values staying up to date with advancements in technology and medicine. He also serves as the director of cardiac rehabilitation at Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
Dr. Runquist completed his undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University and earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in 1995. He then moved to Charleston, where he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Runquist enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. His wife is a well-known oil painter in Charleston.
