About Marion Cooper II
Professional Statement
Dr. Marion L. "Chip" Cooper II is a board-certified family medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Primary Care. He earned his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at Trident Medical Center and the Medical University of South Carolina. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Cooper is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals and families.
Dr. Cooper specializes in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure and has training and experience providing palliative care for patients with serious illnesses. With his focus on clear communication and personalized care, he works closely with patients to create tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals.
Dr. Cooper’s journey into medicine was deeply influenced by his childhood doctor, one of the first family medicine physicians in his community. This doctor not only treated Dr. Cooper’s sore throats and anemia but also participated in his mother’s surgery, all while showing genuine interest and satisfaction in his work. These early experiences inspired Dr. Cooper to pursue medicine as a second career and bring a fresh perspective to the patient experience.
As a second-career physician, Dr. Cooper understands the challenges people face in finding time and resources for healthcare. He is committed to making every visit accessible, meaningful and easy to understand. He believes that good medical care is a partnership, one built on trust, open communication and shared goals between the doctor and patient.
Dr. Cooper takes pride in building strong, lasting relationships with his patients and colleagues. He finds fulfillment in witnessing the progress and successes of his patients, whether it’s helping someone better manage their chronic illness or supporting them in making lifestyle changes that improve their overall health and well-being.
Outside of work, Dr. Cooper enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling to visit his sons and daughter-in-law, reading and watching movies. He also participates in the National Auto Sports Association High Performance Drivers Education program and hopes to continue to advance his driving skills. Dr. Cooper is fluent in English and speaks conversational Spanish to better connect with a diverse group of patients.
