About Michael Sagatelian
Professional Statement
Dr. Michael Sagatelian, a native of California, attended the University of California at Davis, where he earned both a B.S. in biochemistry and an M.D. He then completed his internship and residency at the University of California at Irvine. Following this, he moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to become certified in gastroenterology. During his time in Louisville, Dr. Sagatelian served as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and as an assistant professor of medicine in the GI department.
While in Louisville, Dr. Sagatelian met his wife, who is also a physician. In 1995, they considered relocating to Charleston and decided to make the move. Since then, Dr. Sagatelian has been a co-owner of Palmetto Digestive.
“What I like here,” Dr. Sagatelian says, “is that we deliver a personal approach. When you listen to the patient, you can learn what you need to do.”
Dr. Sagatelian stays active by running and training for half-marathons with his wife. They also enjoy attending sporting events with their two children. Additionally, he speaks Spanish as a second language.
