Pooya Rostami, MD

Dr. Pooya Rostami is family medicine and geriatrics physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Primary Care. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Dr. Rostami completed his undergraduate studies at Canisius College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance. Before pursuing a career in medicine, he served as a firefighter in his community for two years, a role that deepened his commitment to helping others.

Dr. Rostami earned his medical degree and a Master of Science in Biomedical Research from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Most of his clinical rotations were conducted at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, providing him with extensive experience in a diverse and dynamic healthcare environment. He completed his residency in family medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, an academic and clinical affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

After completing his residency, Dr. Rostami traveled to the Himalayas, where he provided medical care to patients in remote Tibetan Buddhist villages. This experience further enriched his understanding of global health and the importance of accessible care.

Dr. Rostami specializes in geriatrics, preventive care, hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. His healthcare philosophy is grounded in the belief that a strong doctor-patient relationship is essential to the healing process. He takes the time to listen to his patients, understand their concerns and develop personalized treatment plans that address their individual needs.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Rostami enjoys spending quality time with his family. He has a passion for music and has previously performed as a violinist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and at Lincoln Center. He also stays active by participating in Ironman triathlons, reflecting his commitment to a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
