Richard Steadman III, MD

Dr. Richard Steadman is part of the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners General Surgery team. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency at Greenville Health System in Greenville, South Carolina.

A Mount Pleasant native, Dr. Steadman was introduced to medicine by his grandfather, whom he describes as a “quintessential small-town family physician.” He admired his grandfather’s dedication to patients and strives to follow that example. While he chose surgery over family medicine, his interest in problem-solving and working with his hands made the specialty a natural fit. He values the opportunity to deliver positive outcomes through procedures and to support patients during challenging times.

Outside of work, Dr. Steadman enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, family and friends. A former state champion water skier, his hobbies include beekeeping, golfing, boating and saltwater fishing.
