Samuel Parish, MD

Dr. Samuel Parish is a board-certified physician in family medicine and addiction medicine, practicing at the Roper St. Francis Greer Transitions Clinic. He provides care for individuals with substance use disorders, including medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol use. His clinical interests include integrating primary care with behavioral health, as well as screening and treatment for mental health conditions.

Dr. Parish finds his work rewarding because it allows him to support patients on their path to better health. He emphasizes shared decision-making, treating patients as active members of their care team. He frequently speaks to community groups, faith-based organizations and professional audiences about addiction and substance use disorders.

Throughout his career, Dr. Parish has worked in hospitals, multispecialty groups, private practices and federally qualified community health centers in Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. He has presented on addiction-related topics, including medication-assisted treatment, care for medically underserved populations, and addiction treatment during pregnancy. He has also served on state and local task forces addressing the impact of addiction on communities.

Dr. Parish earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington and completed his residency at the Trover Clinic Foundation in Madisonville, Kentucky. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and an active member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Parish enjoys spending time with his family, reading, walking and birding.
