About

Professional Statement

Dr. Suzanne Schwab is a board-certified family medicine physician with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Advanced Primary Care. She brings more than 25 years of clinical experience, with a focus on prevention, wellness and the management of both everyday and long-term health conditions. She practices evidence-based medicine with close attention to the whole person.

Services and areas of focus include:

  • Hypertension and blood pressure management, with a focus on cardiovascular risk reduction
  • Diabetes management
  • Weight management through lifestyle-based approaches
  • Behavioral health support, including depression, anxiety and stress management
  • Confidential, office-based recovery services for substance use
  • Women's health
  • Annual wellness exams
  • Skin disorder evaluation and treatment
  • Virtual care visits
  • Minor procedures, including joint injections, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, incision and drainage, cerumen removal and toenail procedures

Dr. Schwab believes in being a true partner in health. She listens closely, respects each patient's autonomy and takes the time to understand the full picture of a person's life – not just their symptoms. She communicates clearly regardless of a patient's background or health literacy, and she's especially attuned to how someone's daily environment shapes their health.

She sees medicine as an act of service, and she considers it a privilege to use her skills caring for others. That sense of purpose still shapes how she treats every patient today – with dignity, and with the same gratitude she brings to her own life.

Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Schwab served as an associate professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she taught residents and medical students. She serves on the legislative delegate committee of the South Carolina Medical Association and is president of the South Carolina Society of Addiction Medicine. She has advocated for patient care and treatment access at the State House and in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Schwab earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. She completed a general surgery internship at the University of Virginia and a family medicine residency at the University of South Carolina.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Schwab is an amateur artist who works in watercolor, acrylic and sculpture. She enjoys family time, boating and swimming in Charleston, interval strength training, and traveling to experience new cultures. She has volunteered on medical mission trips both locally and around the world, including in India, Greece, Turkey, Mexico and Samoa.
