Choosing a career in medicine was a natural path for Dr. Appleby, inspired by his family's medical background — his mother, a nurse anesthetist, and his father, a general surgeon. This upbringing instilled in him a profound desire to serve others through medicine, a passion that drives him every day. Dr. Appleby’s care philosophy is deeply rooted in a commitment to serving his patients with the highest quality of personalized care. He is inspired by the words of Ambrose Pare, a 16th-century surgeon: "I treated him, and God healed him." This sentiment reflects his approach to patient care, emphasizing his role in treatment while acknowledging larger forces at play in healing and recovery.
The aspects of his work that Dr. Appleby finds most rewarding are the personal connections he forms with his patients and the intricate challenges of vascular surgery. These elements fuel his passion for his profession, continuously inspiring him to excel and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those he treats. Dr. Appleby's values the opportunity to serve a diverse patient population through a not-for-profit healthcare system. This environment allows him to focus on what matters most: providing exceptional care to every patient, regardless of their background. During his downtime, Dr. Appleby cherishes time spent with his expanding family, including his grandchildren. He is an avid golfer, always striving for improvement. He also enjoys taking in the coastal beauty of the Lowcountry while boating in Bull’s Bay.

Dr. Appleby was fantastic! Great listener, great "bed-side" manner. Didn't talk down to me, but was able to explain complex issues in very simple terms. Glad to have him as my Cardiologist.

He was excellent. I see many specialists and many of them don't listen to what I have to say about my condition. Some push you into surgery or procedures right away. He is very good at diagnosing and treatment options. He gave me a 3 month plan to follow with a checkup after the 3 months. I would definitely recommend him to other patients who need a specialist in his field.
